How do you flatten chicken breasts?
To flatten: Cover your cutting board with a large piece of plastic wrap. Place one chicken breast on top of it, and cover with another large piece of plastic wrap. Using the flat side of your kitchen mallet or a rolling pin, gently hit to flatten chicken breasts working from the thickest portion in the middle to the outer edges. Flatten each breast to a uniform thickness of 3/4-inch.
Marinating
- Prepare the honey mustard chicken marinade by combining the honey, mustard, apple cider vinegar, olive oil, garlic, salt and paper in a small bowl.
- Place your flattened chicken breasts into a resealable plastic bag, and pour the honey mustard marinade on top. Use tongs to work the breast around for even coating.
- Seal the bag, and place it in the refrigerator for 4-8 hours.
Grilling honey mustard chicken breasts
- Preheat your grill to medium heat of 350 degrees F.
- Keep a reliable instant-read meat thermometer nearby.
- If you chose not to flatten the chicken breasts, you will need to adjust your cooking times accordingly.
- Place the marinated chicken breasts on the grill grates, close the lid, and cook for 4-5 minutes.
- Flip them over with grill-safe tongs and continue cooking for another 4-5 minutes or until they reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.
