There was a bit of optimism for the Chicago Bears going into this season, but it quickly evaporated, leaving only a weak 7-10 record.

While some feel the team as a whole has shown some promise, it has become more clear than ever that Justin Fields may not be their choice as a franchise quarterback.

The Bears will have the No. 1 pick in April’s draft, which has set up a dilemma for them: Should they use it on a QB or trade it and stick with Fields?

Per Hoge & Jahns, NFL draft analyst Dane Brugler says it appears they will do the former and instead look to trade Fields.

“When I ask around Chicago, I kind of get the same answer. ‘I think they’re going to take a QB at one and trade Justin Fields,'” Brugler said.

This year’s draft is thought to be rich in quarterbacks who have plenty of potential, starting with Caleb Williams from the University of Southern California.

Williams has thrown for 72 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions while adding 21 touchdowns on the ground over the last two seasons for the Trojans, and he won the Heisman Trophy for the 2022 campaign.

Fields, who just finished his third pro season, has failed to show any meaningful improvement, and it looks like this is the right time for Chicago to move on from him.

The Bears also had the No. 1 pick in last year’s draft, but they decided to trade it to the Carolina Panthers for D.J. Moore and four other picks, one of which just happens to be the No. 1 selection this year.
