After a brilliant performance during the 2023 NFL regular season, the San Francisco 49ers were able to clinch the No. 1 seed in the NFC, resulting in a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the NFL playoffs.
With the 49ers currently awaiting their first opponent in the postseason, there’s been a lot of talk about what the expectations are for Brock Purdy and company before they host a team at Levi’s Stadium next weekend.
As a result of the Baltimore Ravens dominating the 49ers a few weeks ago, San Francisco was given a bit of a reality check that they might not be the best team in the league after all, with Lamar Jackson’s squad making easy work of them in the Bay Area.
However, the consensus that the 49ers are still the best team in the NFC remains the same, as San Francisco might be able to dominate the competition in the conference on their way to the Super Bowl.
Some would argue that it is “Super Bowl or bust” for the 49ers right now, as this team is as talented on both sides of the football as it has ever been, with everything lining up at the right time for Kyle Shahanan’s team, as discussed via 95.7 The Game.
If the 49ers get to the Super Bowl and face the Ravens, it’ll be a different story because Baltimore will almost certainly be favored to come out on top.
However, the competition in the NFC is beatable, with perhaps the Dallas Cowboys being the only real threat to end the 49ers’ hopes of reaching the Super Bowl this year.
