Sometimes, when legendary players in any professional sport walk away from the game, they find it extremely difficult to fill the void left by being unable to play the sport they love and compete at a high level over and over again.
Playing at an elite level in the NFL is something that can’t be replicated, which can drive some super competitive players crazy after they call it a career because they can’t get that feeling that they used to love anymore.
One legendary player who seemingly struggles with not being able to compete in pads anymore on the football field is two-time Super Bowl champion and Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, formerly of the Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts.
Even though Manning can still show his passion for football while being on the “ManningCast” with his brother, Eli Manning, he can’t be on the field unless it’s during the Pro Bowl Games when he can coach against Eli in a flag football game, which gets the competitive juices flowing again.
Peyton Manning is so competitive and wants to win this competition against his brother so badly that he has his players wearing wristbands, via the Broncos’ Twitter account.
Clearly, Peyton Manning isn’t messing around when it comes to competing against Eli Manning in this annual competition, even though there’s no Super Bowl title on the line or anything really significant other than bragging rights.
Although this may come off as psychotic behavior to some, it’s refreshing to see him still have that fire years after retiring.
