The Kansas City Chiefs have done well to get back to the AFC Championship Round, but now must overcome the Baltimore Ravens if they hope to advance to Super Bowl LVIII.
The Chiefs have rarely been underdogs since Patrick Mahomes arrived, but they are in that position now given how well the Ravens have played throughout the 2023 NFL season.
Offensively, Kansas City has struggled in spurts to move the football which is odd to say because of Mahomes’ brilliance.
However, head coach Andy Reid has pivoted to a more conservative approach that features Isiah Pacheco and a defense-first mindset.
The defense has been the true savior of the Chiefs’ season as they’ve been one of the best units in the league.
Ahead of the matchup against Baltimore, Kansas City is elevating a couple of players to the gameday roster via the team’s official Twitter account.
“We have activated Practice Squad players NT Mike Pennel and CB Keith Taylor via Standard Elevation,” the team announced.
Mike Pennel and Keith Taylor likely won’t see many snaps against the Ravens and will serve as depth pieces.
Both players were used sparingly during the regular season, so this is simply a bit of housekeeping for the Chiefs who could use extra bodies.
Kadarius Toney was ruled out due to a hip injury and personal reasons, leaving open some spots to fill up.
Regardless, Kansas City has its main players available for the game and it should be one of the most exciting matchups to date given the teams and what’s at stake.
