With legendary head coach Andy Reid now officially the oldest at his position in the NFL (65), following Pete Carroll (72) and Bill Belichick (71) being relieved of their coaching duties recently, the Kansas City Chiefs may very well be thinking about his future.

Recently, a rumor surfaced that Reid is thinking about calling it a career once the season is officially over for the Chiefs on Sunday.

With Reid accomplishing as much as he has, win or lose on Sunday, the veteran head coach walking away from the game wouldn’t be all that surprising but rather disappointing for the Chiefs.

Even though retiring might be an intriguing proposition for Reid, it seems as though team owner Clark Hunt isn’t buying it as he believes the veteran head coach loves coaching superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes and will stick around as long as he can to see what the team can accomplish, via ProFootballTalk.

“I know he loves coaching Patrick Mahomes. He’s got a generational quarterback. So, I look forward to having Andy as our head coach for many more years,” Hunt said.

With Mahomes only 28 years old and seemingly having a lot of football left in him, it’ll be interesting to see what Reid’s long-term plans are for coaching the Chiefs.

Only time will tell how much Reid has left in the tank and how many more trophies he can win before officially calling it a career.
