It has been a near certainty that the first three players taken in this year’s NFL Draft will be quarterbacks, but now it looks like that number will increase to four.
As a result, there has been plenty of chatter that at least one team could trade up in order to snag a top-four pick so it could select a signal-caller.
Per Ian Rapoport, the Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, and Las Vegas Raiders are three teams that could make a deal to obtain a top-four pick.
The Broncos, Vikings, and Raiders all need a high-level quarterback, especially after the Broncos parted ways with Russell Wilson and the Vikings lost Kirk Cousins in free agency this offseason.
Denver thought they had gotten back into the business of being a Super Bowl contender when they traded for Wilson two years ago, but they won a combined 13 games in two years with him and didn’t make the playoffs once.
The Vikings looked like they were sailing toward a postseason berth when Cousins tore his Achilles at midseason, and if they obtain a quality QB, they could be headed there this coming season.
Star wide receiver Justin Jefferson is healthy again, and fellow wideout Jordan Addison had an excellent rookie season in 2023.
The Raiders still have some talent, including six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Davante Adams, and perhaps a good QB would make them a playoff contender this fall and winter.
The top-four quarterbacks in this year’s draft class are (in no particular order) Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, and J.J. McCarthy.
