After making the playoffs in 2022, the New York Giants came back down to earth last season, winning just six games and missing the playoffs.

It has become clear to many by now that quarterback Daniel Jones isn’t really the answer for them long-term, and there have been whispers they want to move on from him.

The Giants have the No. 6 pick in next month’s draft, and some are wondering if they will stick with Jones under center, but Nick Wright said on FS1’s “First Things First” that they deserve to stick with him because “this is the world the Giants have built for themselves.”

Just last year, New York gave Jones a large new contract worth $160 million over four years, and some have criticized them for giving him that deal instead of giving it to running back Saquon Barkley, who left the team this month in free agency.

While Jones has improved his passing accuracy in his five NFL seasons, he has proven himself to be a very lackluster passer, and his career-high for one season has been 3,205 passing yards, which he established in 2022.

Last season, he suffered a torn ACL that limited him to six games.

With the No. 6 pick, the Giants may have the opportunity to take University of Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy, but they have other needs, including the wide receiver position, which has been quite weak for them.

Studs such as Malik Nabers and Rome Odunze could be available at No. 6, and perhaps a player like that could result in somewhat of a bump for Jones’ numbers this fall and winter.
