With almost all of their core from last season intact, the Kansas City Chiefs are moving through the offseason with the full intent of becoming the first NFL team to win three-straight Super Bowl championships.
They may not have the most talented roster in the league, but they do have the best quarterback in the world in Patrick Mahomes and arguably the best tight end in Travis Kelce.
At the same time, Kelce is 34 years of age, and it’s time for the Chiefs to start finding his heir apparent.
Ben Sinnott, a tight end prospect from Kansas State University, is meeting with the Chiefs, per Billy M on Twitter.
Sinnott is originally from Iowa, and last season, he had 49 catches for 676 yards and six touchdowns.
He is thought to have solid speed and explosiveness, and what makes him interesting is his ability to also play the fullback position, where he works hard to block for his teammates, despite his lack of great mobility.
It is expected that Sinnott will be taken on the third day of the draft in one of the later rounds.
There was speculation that Kelce would retire after the Chiefs won it all in February, but he put off retirement in order to help his team chase that historic three-peat.
With Kelce, star pass rusher Chris Jones, and running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire all returning, it is no wonder Kansas City is the favorite to once again come out of the AFC, even though the rest of the conference has seemingly gotten stronger.
