It’s no secret that the quarterback position has been a sore subject for the New England Patriots since Tom Brady’s departure.
Nobody said it was going to be easy to move on from a legend, but the Patriots have had an especially difficult time over the past four seasons.
They recently traded away Mac Jones, an indication that the organization is looking to try again and start over at the position.
One might assume that they are looking to draft a quarterback with the No. 3 selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, but a recent conversation between Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks could indicate otherwise.
As Patriots fan Carlos (@LosTalksPats) highlights from this conversation on Twitter, Jeremiah’s unanimous answer after talking to NFL executives was to “trade down.”
Jeremiah pointed to several potential trade partners for the Patriots, including the Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, and Las Vegas Raiders.
The Vikings present as an interesting candidate, assuming this is the direction the Patriots want to go.
They recently traded for another first-round pick with the Houston Texans, and if they want a quarterback that badly, they might be willing to package those picks to trade with the Patriots.
However, the Raiders and Broncos are also in need of a quarterback, so they could present tantalizing offers as well.
It will be interesting to see what decision the Patriots make ahead of the draft, especially since Bill Belichick is no longer their head coach.
No Brady or Belichick is something the organization has not seen in over 20 years.
