The Tennessee Titans could be heading for a rebuild situation as they currently sit at 5-9 and are officially eliminated from the 2023 NFL Playoffs.

The Titans have dealt with a slew of injuries throughout the season, and it could be time for head coach Mike Vrabel to evaluate the rest of the roster to see who’s worth investing in for next season and beyond.

Tennessee has already transitioned at quarterback as they’re giving rookie Will Levis reps over veteran Ryan Tannehill.

Levis has looked solid in spurts, but needs more time and development before he can comfortably be named the team’s starting quarterback.

Meanwhile, the defense is hurting in a bad way as several players were recently placed on injured reserve and will miss the remainder of the season.

Among them is defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons who was placed on IR with a knee injury via Adam Schefter of ESPN.

“Titans placed defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons on the season-ending injured-reserve list,” Schefter tweeted.

Simmons was initially ruled out for Week 16 against the Seattle Seahawks, marking his third consecutive game missed.

However, it seems that his knee injury wasn’t improving and the team ultimately decided to place him on season-ending IR.

Simmons appeared in 12 games for the Titans and recorded 44 total tackles, 5.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Tenneesse picked up Simmons’ fifth-year option before extending him to a four-year, $94 million extension in the offseason.

Without Simmons, the Titans’ run defense takes a massive hit which doesn’t bode well for them considering the Seahawks’ preference to run the football.
