After three lackluster seasons with the Chicago Bears, quarterback Justin Fields is now a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

While he is listed second on their depth chart behind another new addition by the name of Russell Wilson, some feel he could be poised to become their QB1 at some point this coming season.

With just under four months to go before the start of training camp, Fields was seen at the gym putting in work on his strength, per Dov Kleiman.

A lot was expected from Fields when the Bears took him with the No. 11 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Ohio State, but he has fallen well short of those expectations.

In three pro seasons, he has completed 60.3 percent of his pass attempts and thrown for a total of 6,674 yards, 40 touchdowns, and 30 interceptions, and he has shown only marginal improvement since his rookie year.

The Steelers already made the playoffs with a 10-7 record in 2023, and the arrival of both Wilson and Fields could result in the AFC North becoming even more elite this fall and winter.

Wilson saw his numbers rebound last season after a disastrous maiden voyage with the Denver Broncos in 2022, but he is getting up there in age, and if he declines due to wear and tear, it could leave a window open for Fields.

This could be Fields’ last chance to prove he can be the starting QB for a quality NFL team, and if he doesn’t do so, he’ll likely be rendered a backup signal-caller for the rest of his career.
