SuoiHai Villa

Vietnam has some of the most mesmerising backdrops anywhere in the world so it stands to reason that more and more spectacular modern pieces of architecture are emerging there and you can now add the extraordinary SuoiHai Villa to that list. Designed by APDI Architecture, SuoiHai Villa boasts some striking, contemporary design features and a truly majestic setting that is impossible not to love.

Perfectly positioned overlooking Suoi Hai Lake and the famous Tản Viên Peak, SuoiHai Villa from APDI is one of the only buildings in the picturesque area and it merits its spot courtesy of some excellent architectural design that really makes the most of its privileged location. With a single-storey profile and APDI Architecture’s use of local materials such as bricks made from laterite – rusty-red stone formed from the leaching of rocks and soil, the visual impact of the property is minimised and ensures that it is unobtrusive on the landscape.

SuoiHai Villa’s long, narrow plot helps to deliver almost all of its spaces with a spectacular view out over the lake to the south through full-height windows – making it a mighty relaxing spot to unwind for the owners. The less exposed northern side of the home is sheltered by perforated brick walls. Within the property, you’ll find a living, dining and kitchen area that sits below a sizeable pyramid-shaped roof with a skylight at its apex, surrounded by the main bedroom to the west and more understated guest rooms to the east.

Three minimalist, courtyard gardens do a great job of breaking up the interior of SuoiHai Villa and provides ventilation and more intimate spaces for connection to the outdoors, in direct contrast to the jaw-dropping views of the lake that stretches beyond the home. A lengthy area of bamboo decking that lines the southern part of the home weaves its way down to a fantastic swimming pool and terrace, partially sheltered by a long section of wall that extends out of the home. Another first-class addition to Vietnam’s ever-growing list of modern architecture marvels.
