The Buffalo Bills have been considered Super Bowl contenders for most of the last four seasons, but they will likely take a step back after trading star wide receiver Stefon Diggs on Wednesday.

As a result, their streak of four consecutive AFC East titles is in jeopardy of ending.

Former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky said that “the pressure is on (general manager) Brandon Beane and (QB) Josh Allen” to make sure Buffalo remains a winner without Diggs.

One additional problem Buffalo has, as Orlovsky pointed out, is that they don’t have a WR1 or even a WR2, since Gabe Davis, last season’s WR2 for them, is now a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Allen, who is arguably one of the game’s top-three quarterbacks, will now be hard-pressed to make sure Buffalo remains one of football’s best offensive teams.

Buffalo got off to a 6-6 start last season, which intensified the persistent rumors that Diggs had a rift with the organization and possibly Allen.

They then won five games in a row to end the regular season, which had many prognosticators tabbing them as a dark-horse Super Bowl contender.

But they lost in heartbreaking fashion in the Divisional round of the playoffs to the Kansas City Chiefs when Tyler Bass missed a late field goal that would’ve tied the game.

Longtime Bills fans have seen that movie before, and it could turn into a horror flick unless Beane figures out a way to give his franchise an infusion of talent soon.
