The Indianapolis Colts are looking to rebound from a disappointing 2023 season and challenge for a playoff spot this fall and winter.

Quarterback Anthony Richardson, who was limited to four games as a rookie in 2023 because of a shoulder injury, is hoping to realize his potential, while star running back Jonathan Taylor is healthy again after suffering a thumb injury last year.

The team was spooked a bit, however, when No. 1 wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. suffered a left knee injury during OTAs on Wednesday, per ProFootballTalk.

The good news is that head coach Shane Steichen feels Pittman will be fine and that the wideout simply bumped knees.

Pittman, 26, is coming off a season in which he posted a career-high 1,152 receiving yards, which led to him earning a three-year contract extension worth $70 million in March.

But he appears to have some help now, as fellow wideout Josh Downs is coming off a strong rookie year during which he caught 68 passes for 771 yards and two touchdowns.

Indianapolis hasn’t made the playoffs since the 2020 season during Philip Rivers’ last pro season, and they haven’t won a postseason game since 2018, when Andrew Luck was playing in his final season.

The rest of the AFC has improved, and in the AFC South, the Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans, and Jacksonville Jaguars have all made notable additions this offseason.

That means the Colts will have little, if any, margin for error this coming season, which means Pittman will need to be good to go for Week 1 when they host the Texans.
