The Philadelphia Eagles may have beaten the New York Giants in Week 16 to snap their three-game losing streak, but it was hardly an encouraging win.
The Eagles got by the Giants with a 33-25 final score, though fans probably aren’t happy with how close the game was throughout the afternoon.
Philadelphia owned a 20-3 lead at halftime, but that was nearly evaporated in the third quarter alone when they allowed New York to score 15 unanswered points.
Jalen Hurts had a solid outing as he threw for over 300 yards and scored two total touchdowns, though his lone interception resulted in a pick-six for the New York defense.
The interception occurred at the end of the third quarter when Adoree Jackson read Hurts’ eyes and picked off the pass
Hurts tackled Jackson in the end zone though he was later fined by the NFL for dragging him down by the collar via Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
“The NFL fined Eagles QB Jalen Hurts $16,391 for a horsecollar tackle last week — yanking down #Giants CB Adoree Jackson on this pick-six,” Pelissero tweeted.
In the video clip, Hurts is seen chasing after Jackson and pulling him down by the collar after the cornerback had already scored the touchdown.
Horsecollar tackles like that often will draw a fine from the league office, so this is not out of the norm for them.
While not a hefty fine for Hurts, he and the team have to be better about penalties.
