Why you should rotisserie a ham
The rotisserie method produces a sweet, candied crust with tender morsels of ham in every bite. This recipe is easy: thread a seasoned boneless ham on the rotisserie rod and set it up on the grill over a drip pan. In 1 1/2 hours, you’ll have a delicious main course ready to serve. Oh, and save those leftovers for sandwiches!
For this recipe, you will need a rotisserie attachment for your grill and an aluminum foil drip pan to catch those juices and prevent flare-ups!

How to Make it
- Remove ham from the refrigerator, and let sit at room temperature for 20-30 minutes.
- Set up your rotisserie unit per the manufacturer’s instructions.

- Next, turn the heat off, but allow the rotisserie unit to run for 10 minutes.
- Switch off the motor.
- Put on heat-resistant gloves, and carefully remove ham from the rotisserie attachment with forks and rod still intact.

- 1 cup honey
- 1/4 cup apple cider (sub with apple juice)
- 2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar (sub with red wine vinegar)
Remove ham from the refrigerator, and let sit at room temperature for 20-30 minutes.
Set up your rotisserie unit per the manufacturer’s instructions.
Apply a thin coating of Dijon mustard to the surface of the ham, then season with 1/3 cup of no-salt added honey BBQ rub. The mustard acts as a binder and will help the seasonings stick in place.
Carefully thread the rotisserie rod through the ham and secure the forks.
Place the ham onto the rotisserie unit with the aluminum drip pan underneath.
Cook your rotisserie holiday ham over medium-low heat (300 degrees) for about 20 minutes per pound of meat, or roughly 1 1/2 hours.
While the ham is on the spit, it is time to make the honey butter glaze.
Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat and add the honey, apple cider (or juice), and vinegar. Stir the mixture, and set on low. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until well combined. Remove from heat, cover, and keep warm.
Once the thickest part of the ham reaches an internal temperature of 135 degrees F., it's time to brush on the glaze.
Apply glaze evenly to the ham. You might have a little glaze left over, and that's fine. Close the lid of your grill and let the ham continue cooking until it reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees F. Next, turn the heat off, but allow the rotisserie unit to run for 10 minutes.
Switch off the motor.
Put on heat-resistant gloves, and carefully remove ham from the rotisserie unit with forks and rod still intact.
Place the entire thing onto a clean cutting board and tent it with aluminum foil. Let the ham rest for 10-15 minutes.
Remove the forks and carefully pull out the rotisserie rod.
Slice rotisserie ham to the desired thickness and serve with your favorite sides.
Store leftover rotisserie ham in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Slice thin and use in sandwiches, or dice and use in soups and casseroles.
